UNP சார்பில் மேலும் பல முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு வேட்புமனுக்கள் வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் – ரணிலிடம் கோரிக்கை

எதிர்வரும் பொதுத்தேர்தலில் ஐக்கிய தேசியக் கட்சியின் சார்பில் மேலும் பல முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு வேட்புமனுக்கள் வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கட்சியின் தலைவர் ரணில் விக்கிரமசிங்கவிடம் இந்தக்கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கடிதம் ஒன்றின்மூலம் இந்தக்கோரிக்கையை இலங்கை முஸ்லிம் பேரவை வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளது. முஸ்லிம் சமூகம், ஐக்கிய தேசியக்கட்சிக்கே அதிகளவில் வாக்களித்து வருவதாக அதில் சுட்டிக்காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதன்படி கண்டி, கொழும்பு, களுத்துறை, குருநாகல் மற்றும் புத்தளம் மாவட்டங்களில் மேலும் முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பு வழங்கப்படவேண்டும் என்று சபை கோரியுள்ளது.

Dear Hon. Prime Minister

RE: REPRESENTATION OF MUSLIMS IN THE UNP

The Muslim communities have been loyal supporters and have been voting the United National Party overwhelmingly for decades. There is much concern amongst the community that their representation within the UNP has been reduced. This is mainly because the UNP is supposed to have made a decision to field only two Muslim candidates in predominantly Muslim dominated areas.

Sir, you are well aware, the Muslim representation has been higher in the districts of Kandy, Colombo in previous governments. We are concerned that independent groups may come forward from the Muslim community and the Muslim vote could get further fragmented, thereby reducing the chances of even two members being elected from these districts.

As such, we kindly urge you to kindly nominate at least three candidates to the districts of Kandy and Colombo, Two each for the districts of Kalutara, Kurunegala, Puttalam, etc. This will ensure that the majority of the Muslim votes in these areas will be cast in favour of the United National Party.
